SMITH/9TH ST.
Thesis work examining the remediation and re-interpretation of an industrial site lying between the Smith/9th st. subway station, the BQE, and the Gowanus Canal. This project reimaged the area as a public square involving the adaptive re-use of existing industrial buildings on the site and the construction of a raised pedestrian pathway and bike lane allowing for safe navigation of the super-sized infrastructure in the area. A good portion of the site would be allowed to grow wild with native plants as a longer term effort towards phytoremediation.
